History
We started as a Bible Study group in Nanaimo, meeting in a home, as an outreach from CFC, Qualicum Beach.
We were then planted as a church in Nanaimo from CFC in 1992 calling it Southside CFC. Over the years we were in a couple of schools; a building on the highway in South Wellington; Harbour Park Mall, where the Casino is now, first in the basement section, then the upper floor. Because a Casino was going in, we bought the old night club at 25 Victoria Road, that was originally built as a Pentecostal church years ago. We converted it back to a church. In 2001 Southside planted Victoria Miracle Centre, in Victoria, and is Pastored by Dan and Susan McLean. Our Victoria Road church was eventually sold to a Nanaimo theatre group. Then we moved to Southgate Mall, in Chase River. We outgrew the mall space in 2009, and after much renovation, moved to the Howard Johnson Hotel into the Grizzly Bar; which had been vacant for 3 years, in May 2010. That was the second bar that we have renovated and turned into a church! In October 2021 we moved again, this time to the location of the old Bingo Hall at University Village Mall in Harewood. |
